Naomie Shanna Marie Winch

Naomie Winch is a technical director and theatrical lighting designer whose passion for theatre has grown in parallel with her work nationally and internationally with nonprofit volunteer organizations such as Habitat for Humanity and AmeriCorps. She earned her B.A. in Drama with an Honors in Lighting Design from the University of California, Irvine and holds two M.F.A.'s from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign in Scenic Technology and in Lighting Design and Technology.

Originally, she studied to be a lighting designer but soon after she came to grad school, she realized the importance of a technical director. Her passion for technical design stemmed from her love of using her hands which also heavily plays into her construction and renovation work. While she is currently a Project Manager and theatre consultant with Theatre Projects, she holds true to her lighting design and technical direction roots. Her love for contemporary, and abstract scenery makes her a great candidate for working on modern dance, new works, and performance art as a lighting designer. Her strong theatrical design background helps her to understand the difference between the tangibility of set design and the imperceptibility of lighting design and how the relationship between the two is paramount.

Naomie has a passion for volunteer work and helping others and would like to use community driven theatre consulting to reach out to the impoverished world so everyone can have access to community, joy, and entertainment. As well as her love of theatre, Naomie always has a place in her heart for mother nature and the outdoors. This can be seen in her personal projects. In time, she intends to pursue a teaching career at the university level and continue to reach out to those in need.
